WHAT OUR GUESTS SAY ABOUT OUR ZAMENHOF STREET VACATION RENTAL

“This place is spectacular!”
TRIP ADVISOR Reviewed August 12, 2011

My family stayed here during our two week trip to Isreal, and I can definately say this was by far the nicest place we stayed. The house is absolutely beautiful - just like the pictures, only better. Sharon was a pleasure to deal with - we had one bit of confusion with our dates, but she was so sweet and bent over backwards to make things work for us. The location of the house can not be beat. Is is walking distance to almost everywhere you would want to go. The Wall, and the old city are a five minute walk, as was shopping, restaurants, the Citadel. I could go on and on about how nice this place is, and for the price we paid, it was a steal! Don't hesitate - just book this place. You will be glad you did.

Lovely apartment (quiet neighborhood down a pedestrian street near the new Waldorf Astoria) within an 8-10 minute walk of the Jaffe Gate (Old City). Near a grocery store (Kosher) and lots of restaurants and the luxurious Mamilla Mall). Both the apartment and the owners were outstanding (owners speak fluent English and were remarkably helpful and easily reachable). Clean, convenient to everything important, Kosher, air conditioned (imperative in the summer months) and allows the renter to avoid the need to have a rental car. Cabs are everywhere and much less expensive then a car rental. I would not think of renting hotel rooms when the real value (and lovely expansive space) is available in an apartment rental such as this. There were 6 of us and the apt. was perfect.

I had never rented from VRBO before, but based on the outstanding reviews of this property I decided to rent it for our family's 5-night stay in Jerusalem. Very glad I did. Sharon, the owner, was very responsive in advance to my inquiries. When we arrived in Jerusalem, she and her husband met us at the house and made us feel at home. Everything is exactly as described on the website and the reviews of other travelers. The location cannot be beat: as others have said, it is close to the Jaffa Gate, steps from the Mamilla shopping and a short walk to other parts of central Jerusalem (Ben Yehuda is about a 5 min. walk). The arches and other distinctive features of the house make you feel much more like you are staying in Jerusalem than you will at any hotel. Pictures of the front room do not do it justice: its high ceilings and built in daybeds under the arches make you feel as if you are living in a palace. Everything throughout the house works well and is easy to use and comfortable. The patio in front is a wonderful place to spend cool Jerusalem evenings. As others have said, there is a supermarket just up the hill, with a cart provided. All in all, a terrific rental experience and one I would gladly repeat on my next trip.

This apartment was a delight to stay in. It is charming, both visually and architecturally. The owner has done an amazing job of allowing the ancient beauty (large stones walls, arched celings) to shine, while updating the apartment so that it is clean, modern and very comfortable. The kitchen has all of the modern conveniences, and the appliances all work well. The bedrooms are tastefully furnished and there is plenty of closet and storage room. There is also a lovely and colorful garden to enjoy right of the kitchen. Sharon, the owner, was a pleasure to deal with. She met us at the apartment when we arrived and gave us a thorough tour and explanation of the apartment. Sharon was gracious and pleasant and I felt that I could contact her if a problem arose (none did) and I knew she would respond immediately. Finally, you know what they say....location, location, location!! We could walk just about everywhere that we wanted to with ease. But, if we needed a taxi, we only had to walk to the street and there was a steady stream of available cabs. I would definitely return to this apartment or any apartment owned by Sharon.

Exquisite Property in the Most Central Jerusalem Location
Guest: Phyl(Wellesley, MA USA)
Date of Stay: 03/10/11 Review Submitted: 04/06/11
My husband and I took the first floor bedroom convenient to the galley kitchen and eating nook, the spectacular living-dining room, and up- to- date bathroom with a tub and shower and electric heater. In the high-ceilinged spacious dining-living room there was lots of room for our many Shabbat guests. On the second floor were a large bedroom with a kingsize bed and a smaller bedroom with a single bed. The beds were very clean and comfortable and the rooms attractive, with good storage. Another modern bathroom with tub and shower was on this floor. The outside patio was private (next to the US Embassy building), with a lovely garden. It was an easy walk to the King David Hotel and to the Kotel and the Y. There were lots of restaurants, a beautiful park, and downtown Jerusalem shopping close by. Meah Shearim was a 15 minute walk. The owner was very accessible and responsive. The rental was in very good condition and very nicely appointed and decorated.Although there was inadequate air circulation in the downstairs bathroom, all in all, we were very happy to be there, and would definitely like to stay there again. The best way to get around Jerusalem is on foot. This location made Jerusalem very accessible.

“What a perfect location and fabulous space”

The unit was a historic Jerusalem residence with a huge updated moorish style livingroom/dining room - comfortable side yard where we sat and enjoyed the lemon tree that grew there. One could not have a more central location for Jerusalem. We could walk to the centre of town, Machane Yehuda, the old city, King David hotel and the supermarket. The unit was very spacious - updated bathrooms. The owners very kindly provided a crib for our young one. It was a pleasure dealing with Sharon and her husband. Staying in the home made our Jerusalem stay very pleasurable.

SHHHHHHH! Dont tell anyone this is Jerualem's best kept secret!

26th Jan 2010

I dont think there is a better location in the whole of Jerusalem for either of Sharon's two apartments near Malmilla Mall. Throw into the mix, a delightful owner who really cares about her clients, fabulous historic homes with every comfort and you have the recipe for a perfect stay in Jerusalem. Sharon answered all emails readily, met us as as arranged and gave wonderful advice above and beyond any hotel concierge. Her homes are lovingly restored and have a unique feel about them. being able to walk to every attraction was such a bonus. I cannot recommend these homes highly enough.

My family and a friend enjoyed 5 wonderful days in this lovely home. It's very comfortable and well equipped with a spacious and unique dining room. The location couldn't be better, within walking distance to the Jaffa Gate and the Old City, Mamilla and Ben Yehuda Street with a handy supermarket only few minutes walk away. It's also very quiet at night. The owners are very friendly and helpful too. We would love to stay there again.

We just got back from staying in this lovely house for a week, and everything about it was perfect. The house was beautiful and comfortable, the owner kind and helpful, and the location was excellent--walking distance from the old city, Mamilla Mall, downtown, the American consulate, .the King David Hotel, and a grocery store. I would definitely rent this house again--we had a perfect vacation staying there!

Staying at the apartment on Zamenhoff was a true delight. The apartment is architecturally beautiful with interesting archways and recessed nooks. The kitchen is well stocked with the essential pots, pans dishes etc. Keeping kosher is easy as everything is clearly labeled. When we were there Jerusalem was experiencing a heat wave so I can tell you that the A.C. works very well. Sharon and her husband built us a lovely sukkah that easily fit nine people. While the building is over 100 years old the inside is modern and up to date. The only thing needing some work is the ventilation system in the bathrooms. The location is ideal. The building is located in a quiet alleyway but is easy walking distance to the old city, Mamilla Mall, Ben Yehuda Street and all major hotels in the city center. Supersol is up the block and Sharon thoughtfully supplies a shopping cart to make grocery shopping easy. Sharon and her husband are always available by phone and will come to the apartment to take care of any needs that arise. We were there for two weeks and they arranged for someone to come after the first week to clean the house and change the bedding. There is a washing machine which while quite small is perfectly adequate. I would recommend the apartment whole heartedly and would absolutely stay there again - hopefully soon!

My husband and I stayed here with our son, daughter in law and three children and could not have been happier. Great space, wonderfully equipped house and totally comfortable. It is extremely well located, minutes from a supermarket, Mamilla Mall, the Old City and Ben Yehuda Street. The owners are amazing and take excellent care of their property. We recommend this house and would definitely stay here again.

We had a terrific stay at this beautiful apartment. It was a delight to stay in this very clean and perfectly located apartment. The owners are wonderful to deal with and very attentive. My only hesitation in praising the apt is that it will never be available for me again. Enjoy your stay!

I have just returned from a wonderful stay in this magnificent apartment. Everything is exactly as it looks on the website. We shared the place with friends and it was perfect for 2 couples, everyone had their own space. As already mentioned in other comments, the location is ideal, close to everything you would want in Jerusalem. It was a perfect place to share Shabbat with family and friends. The hosts are wonderful and caring. It would be my first choice for future visits.

My husband and I stayed here along with my two Chicago-based cousins and our Jerusalem-based son and daughter-in-law for two weeks in September. It was very roomy, amazingly beautiful, and in a great location to walk everywhere! We enjoyed cooking in the Kosher kitchen and eating our dinners on the cozy tree-filled patio. We hope to stay again some time in the future.

Our party of 3 stayed here in July/August 2008 as we were in town to prepare for the release of our documentary film, Exodus Conspiracy. We required a large space to show the film to multiple people. The property was PERFECT in every way and the hosts were delightful. You can rent here with 100% confidence. Feel free to contact me for more comments.

My family of 5 just came back from 10 days staying in this very comfortable, perfectly located apartment. There is more than enough room. The apartment is tucked between the US Consulate and the YMCA on a small, pedestrian alley, so while you are minutes away from so much, you feel as if you are in a different world. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful three-week stay in Jerusalem at this fabulous apartment. it really is as good as it looks. The location is perfect. Just down the street is the Mamilla Mall (the new Rodeo Drive of Jerusalem) and then the Jaffa Gate to the Old City, so you can easily walk down to the Kotel. Across the street is the SuperSol supermarket. And a short walk across the park you have Ben Yehuda and all the restaurants and shops (we also parked our car in a garage there to avoid having to fee the meters on Agron). The apartment itself is spacious and clean. The kitchen is basically all new. the apartment is on a small side street so it is quiet. And the little garden out front is charming. the neighbors are also nice. So, an unreserved thumbs up for this place. i would come back again in a heartbeat.

E. Randol Schoenberg, Los Angeles, California

It started with the perfect host and couldn't stop getting better. The location is ideal. Everything is convenient within 10 minute walk. Synagogue, Old City, Ben Yehuda St., grocery store) It's very large, comfortable and completely furnished for all your needs. My children thought it would be terrific for 2 couples with 4 younger children. The garden was great to sit for morning coffee in a private eden. And if you need more space across the street is a big park. The hosts couldn't stop offering help with anything that came up. Just a great experience!!

Lauren Kaplan, Detroit, Michigan

This is a perfect three bedroom home. We were so close to the Old City, a synagoge, as well as the night life. We had a lovely Shabbot Dinner in this complete kosher home (linens, prayer books and candles). Everything was clean and cozy.

Anonymous, Detroit, Michigan

This is a beautiful home and the location is fantastic. The owners are very helpful. The renovation to the home has been lovingly done and the house is very comfortable. It is clear that the owners have given thought to how to make the stay comfortable and convenient.

L Borsuk , Atlanta, Georgia

Finding this home was a dream come true. Our family of seven enjoyed everything about this lovely, historic home- the location can't be beat! We walked everywhere, from the Old City to the Mamilla Mall, to the German Colony to Machaneh Yehuda and more. We cooked lots of meals, and ate like royalty in the magnificent dining room/living room, which oozes Moroccan charm (and we have been to Morocco so we know the authentic thing when we see it). We took such joy in simple things- having morning coffee in the lovely garden, buying groceries easily at the nearby Supersol, chatting with the charming men who run the nearby bike shop, pretending for a week that we really lived there. The house is perfectly equipped for your comfort and the hosts could not be more helpful and accommodating. We hope to be fortunate enough to return someday soon!

The apartment at 12 hama’aravim street is amazing!! We had high expectations coming in and it exceeded out expectations by far. This is one instance where the apartment looks better in real life than in the pictures. The living room area is beautiful. It is open, light, and airy and, while it is completely modern, it has the feel of an old time traditional Jerusalem home. The upstairs bedroom with en-suite bathroom is very comfortable and spacious (with great closet space). It is really great also having a downstairs bathroom. The amenities were perfect. And to add to all that the location is fantastic – just minutes walking distance from the Old City!!! Finally, the owner was wonderful and attentive –always very helpful, responsive, and flexible. She did everything to accommodate our needs in terms of arrival and departure times. This is a real a jewel and we hope to stay there again!

We spent 2 nights in this beautiful apartment. The tile floors and architectural details were very interesting and added to the charm. The rooms were clean and comfortable and tastefully decorated. The street is tucked away on a beautiful little side road. It is exceptionally easy to walk anywhere from this apartment, from Old City to Ben Yehuda. There is a convenient food market just down the street. Sharon, the owner, was a pleasure to do business with. She is pleasant and responsible and wants to make your stay a successful experience. She clearly take pride in her work. I would recommend this apartment or any other that is owned and operated by Sharon.

We Loved It!

Guest: Steve(Dallas, Texas USA) Date of Stay: 07/12/10 Review Submitted: 08/24/10

We took this apartment for six weeks during the summer of 2010 and we just loved it. The location is superb -- not only close to the Old City, but a very short walk to the outstanding restaurants and cafes at Mamilla Mall several world-class hotels and great Jerusalem neighborhoods. With a supermarket just up the street, and a nice park across the street, it was perfect for a long stay for our family. The apartment is very clean and comfortable. With the master bedroom upstairs, a bedroom downstairs and a couch in the family room that becomes a bed, the layout of the apartment was great for our family of five. The landlord couldn't have been more accommodating and nice. The pictures are very accurate as is the listing for this apartment. We would definitely recommend this property to others and will look forward to returning ourselves.

It's just superb! Guest: Chechaco(Framingham, MA) Date of Stay: 04/17/10 Review Submitted: 05/09/10 Sometimes I find myself in situation that really challenges my English-writing skill. Mostly that is one I need to express level of excitement I've experienced. Talking about our stay in Jerusalem at this stunningly spacious apartment - one of such challenges. Staying, not, living at this place gave us opportunity to walk more and drive less while visiting all places that we have planned. And no guide will give you the same feel of the city, its citizens and their life like what you get walking, shopping with them, living next to them. Even if for few days. So, take it, experience it! Come to Jerusalem and stay in its heart - close to the Old City, City of David, close to Ben Yehuda. Will we be coming back? Most certainly ...

Hamaaravim is a great location. Conveniently close to Ben Yehudah, Mamilla Mall and The old city! The unit is very spacious and comfortable. The kitchen and apartment has everything you need. We really enjoyed our stay. Owners were a pleasure to deal with.

Sara Doctor , Calgary, Alberta

Just returned from staying here and it was great. We have young children and the central location was great as we were very close to the old city, Ben Yehuda street, Rechavia, etc. The owner was very helpful and responsive when we needed anything. Parking was somewhat a challenge, but manageable. The apartment was very clean and comfortable. A definite thumbs up.

Our two week stay in this terrific apartment has just come to a close. We were sorry to leave our comfortable, convenient Jerusalem home. While the apartment is in a building 150 years old and has the charms of stone arches and a very high vaulted ceiling, all of the appointments are completely up to date with newly renovated bathrooms and kosher kitchen, along with wifi and cable TV. The furniture is tasteful, modern, and comfortable. I always like to travel light and love the convenience of a washer and dryer in an apartment. This feature turned into a life saver when we were soaked to the skin in a very dramatic Jerusalem downpour. The apartment is a 15 minute walk from the Kotel, and both the Center for Conservative Judaism and the Jerusalem Great synagogue are within 5 minutes walk. There is a super market up the street and Ben Yehuda street is only 7 minutes away. 20 minutes away are the charming restaurants and shops of the German Colony and the incredible open market in Machane Yehuda. A similar walk takes you to the Israel museum area. There just couldn't be a better location or setting for getting to know one of the world's great cities.

Our family spent a wonderful week in this comfortable, newly-renovated home on Einayim Lamishpat Street. The accommodations are well-equipped with all the modern amenities that North Americans are used to. The house is large enough that, even though at one point when there were eight of us, we weren't constantly bumping into each other. We even all fit around the dining room table for Shabbat (Sabbath) dinner. It truly felt like "home".

The location was great. Being able to go to Machane Yehuda to pick up fresh baking and sahlab for breakfast was a rare treat. We walked to downtown Jerusalem's shopping-triangle every day and to the Old City several times as well.

The owners are great - friendly, helpful, attentive to our needs, and very accommodating. When we needed them, they were just a phone call away.

We do not hesitate to recommend "Sharon's Vacation Homes" to anyone and we look forward to staying at one of Sharon's places again in the future.

Very, very, very happy with the accomodations at Sharonsplaces apartment on Narkiss St. The apartment is just beautiful and all is comfortable etc. We're giving the washer and dryer a workout, of course.

Today we went to Jaffa and walked around.....................then to Jerusalem where we also walked around....and looked at some sites and also had a nice lunch and did a bit of shopping.

Right now I am beyond exhausted and we are going to walk up the street and find a place to have dinner and then it'll be shower time and off to bed for me........the others might stay up and watch TV/visit.....but, not me. Tomorrow will be another busy day.

Kathy
